Eight Machakos university college students were arrested on Tuesday night after they went on rampage.
The rampage started after a group of students decided to match out of the college to Machakos-Wote road near Katoloni and blocked the road harassing and robbing people.
They blamed one of their Samuc leaders of being a dictator who also pays his opponents large amounts of money to lure them to step down.
They accused him of mistreating other students whenever they get to know of his crooked behaviour and tries to disclose it.
Machakos police officers received information on what was happening from the school principal Francis Mathooko whereby they took action and arrived at the scene immediately to rescue residents and other road users.
They lobbed them with several gas canisters to disperse them back to the institution.
According to principal Mathooko, it is unfortunate that the students decided to go on rampage over a petty issue which they could have been handled in a proper manner.
"It's unfortunate for the first time my students have decided to demonstrate blaming their leaders of poor leadership," said Mathooko.
By 12 midnight police officers had brought the situation under control and students were back in their hostels.
Police officers said that those students will be strictly dealt with as they are expected to pay all loses incurred during the demonstrations.
