Nyamira Women Representative Alice Chae has reiterated that only active women groups from the region will receive funding from her kitty.

Chae had constituted a five member committee compromising people from all the five sub counties who are mandated to identify the groups.

Speaking to the writer on Saturday, Chae said she will start delivering cheques to the identified groups early April, an exercise set to be completed by May 2016.

“We sat down and came up with a committee which will identify women groups that have been active in the past and it’s only those groups we will support. By April this year we will commence issuance of cheques and the exercise will last till May 2016,” she said.

The former Egesa FM presenter also said a special consideration will be given to youthful women groups that have been I existence in the last three months.

“I am aware of young ladies who are determined to change their living standards and their groups will be taken care of. However, they must have been in existence in the last three months,” she said.

Chae also said the lucky women groups will receive an additional funding which will target to launch a campaign against female genital mutilation and also promote girl child education.

“The groups which will be identified will be useful in helping us launch a campaign against FGM and promotion of girl child education in our county. They will work alongside a team of professionals,” she added.

Chae also said the women rep kitty will be used to support various youth groups and physically disabled people.
