A Kisumu activist has renewed claims that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) newly elected party officials were doing little to mobilize voters to register in the county.

Hesbone Omollo, who has been very vocal on ODM issues, said he belongs to a school of thought that says if anyone wants to be a leader, he or she must be prepared for the sacrifices and responsibilities the opportunity offers them to serve people.

Omollo reiterated that there is more comfort outside public office.

“If you offer yourself to lead a people in whichever set up please take your work seriously and deliver, many of you are not doing enough to mobilise voters,” Omollo told the officials.

He stated that recently people almost killed each other to be elected as party delegates or officials.

Right now Omollo said, the officials can't even go out and register voters.

“You can't even deliver all unregistered voters in your own ward or village. So why break your back to only get recognized in funerals? Of what value are you to your party?” posed Omollo.

He stated that ODM and any other party for that matter should read the riot act to those delegates from the grassroots who have done nothing to register voters.

“If each delegate registers 10 people only, then the target is easily achieved,” he said.
