Residents of Gacharage, Temoyetta, Mwahe, Masait, Rwang’ondu and Mungetho in Kuresoi South Constituency have been advised to restrain their cats and dogs from roaming aimlessly following a strange disease that has hit the area.

According to Nyota MCA Njuguna Gicamu who on Monday called for patience adding that he was liaising with the county’s Livestock department to have the situation addressed.

He advised residents to lock up animals which have not been affected to prevent them form getting the disease and increasing the chances of spreading.

“Some of the notable signs include diarrhoea, vomiting, inactiveness, writhing in pain as if it has severe stomach pains before dying,” he said.

Gicamu expressed commitment in having the disease dealt with by the relevant authorities, but stressed on the importance of residents locking up thire animals as a precautionary measure.

“Measures are being taken to contain the situation as a matter of urgency to avoid further spread because who knows; being domestic animals, the strange disease might affect human beings in too,” he added.

He further advised residents in areas where the animals have depicted similar strange symptoms to register with their area chief and assistant chief offices for further action.

So far, more than 100 dogs and cats have been reported dead with the residents being advised to dispose the caucuses appropriately.
