Bomariba ward aspirant Mr Thomas Nyamote has been applauded by locals after he came in and rescued a child whose parents could not afford to buy a wheelchair.

According to the parents of the child, they were unable to contribute Sh18, 000 to buy a standard wheelchair for their son.

Enock a standard 4 pupil at Kenyorora primary school in Keboye sub-location received the new wheelchair donation from Thomas Nyamote who is aspiring for MCA seat in Bomariba.

Enock expressed his joy and appreciated for the donation since he had even dropped school due to lack of the wheelchair.

"I am happy to get a new wheelchair. My parents are poor and would not afford to buy me a wheelchair. My mother often takes me to school and later in the evening she comes for me. This is because I did not have a wheelchair to drive myself to school. Now that I have one I will be going to school alone and come back," he said.

Jackson Sure noted that leadership is not about the election but is all about next generation.

"Good leadership starts from below. The donation itself is a good move of leadership. Disabled people in the community should get maximum support," said Sure.

Another resident Peter Anyega said that the area MCA Protus Moindi has failed the people of Bomariba and urged residents to support a different candidate in 2017.

"In 2013, Moindi promised to buy a new wheelchair for Enock but until today, he has done nothing only that our aspirant Nyamote who is not in any public office has come to rescue Enock. This is too bad. Leaders must fulfill promises otherwise in 2017 such leaders will lose seats," he stated.

Anyega added that Moindi comes from Keboye sub-location the same place where Enock comes from but Moindi could not take any action to help the child he promised during his campaigns in 2013.

"Leaders should not sit and wait for locals to come and ask them for help. Good leaders go around the community to see who should get support. There are many disabled children in homes who should be helped. I urge Thomas Nyamote once elected in 2017 to ensure that the lives of people from the ward have been improved socially, economically, spiritually and politically," said Protus Oucho.
