An aspiring member of the county assembly in Nakuru has urged residents to rise above party politics and elect individuals.
Joseph Kiarie Mugo who will be contesting the Rhonda ward seat on Sunday told area residents that electing candidates based on their political party inclination was not only unwise, but also resulted in electing bad leaders.
He added that the ward had suffered systemic poor leadership in the past elections because leaders who are only self centered ride on their political party euphoria to ascend to the office.
At the same time the aspiring MCA also called on locals to turn out in large numbers and register as voters in the ongoing exercise.
He was speaking during a soccer tournament at Mazembe stadium.
