Opole who is an aspiring Member of County Assembly in Mabungo ward commissioned the construction of the shade on Monday.

The shelter that is being finished has been built along Kisumu-Busia Highway near the main entrance to Maseno National School.

According to Opole, his initiative to construct the bodaboda shelter was driven by the plight of the operators.

He said he was remorseful for the operators who spend long hours under the scorching sun as they waited for clients.

“I want them to have a better place to shelter with their customers during the rainy times too,” he said.

George Simekha a bodaboda operator however, dismissed the politician’s claims that the project was as a result of remorse.

He said the initiative, has a political inclination.

He told this reporter on Wednesday that the aspiring MCA has built the shelter as a mechanism of gaining popularity among the youth for his political venture come next year.

Another operator Caleb Owiti said he was happy for the project as he now has a place to sit and rest whenever he had no business to do.
