An aspiring MCA from Kisumu is set to sponsor a feeding programme in 17 primary schools in South West Kisumu Ward from February.
Dominick Odipo aspiring MCA Kisumu South West Ward will unveil the programme dubbed Feeding Today projects.
Odipo is set to launch the programme with the help of Community Support for Development in Kisumu (CSD Kisumu) and Tropical Initiative for Women Epowerment (TIWE).
“It is my vision that the 17 primary schools in South West Kisumu Ward will be able to offer the lunch program for the pupils, as means of keeping them in school and promoting learning,” said Odipo.
Odipo who was speaking to this writer said that many pupils were missing out on valuable learning hours because their families cannot provide lunch for them.
He said that the programme is geared towards improving performance of the children in school.
The programme will also see the parents to these pupils be supported and facilitated to grow crops and engage in meaningful agricultural activities geared towards providing food for the future.
The initiative to support the parents has been dubbed Feeding Tomorrow Programme.
“We the to support the children from school also, when they go home they also find something to eat, this is towards ensuring that the children have a proper development in all quarters,” added Odipo.
