MCA Mr Ezra Mochiemo on Tuesday summoned road’s county executive committee member Janet Komenda over alleged misappropriation of money meant for renovation and expansion of feeder roads.

This comes amidst complaints from members of the public over alleged slow renovation of feeder roads, some that had been prioritized by the assembly.

In a heated debate, Minority leader Mr Jackson Mogusu sort to know why the department had released a whopping Sh2.9m to do a small section of Kijauri-Kebuse road using human labor of 38 people.

“Mr Chair, I seek with your indulgence to know why the department used an extraordinary Sh2.9 on a 3KM road using human labor in Kijauri-Kebuse region,” he said.

Majority leader Laban Masira also wondered the criteria that were being used by the department to allocate money for human labor made and mechanically repaired roads.

“I also need to know the criteria that the department is using to allocate money for roads done using human labor and those done through the use of machines,” he said.

Ms Komenda, however, defended her docket by saying they had reverted to paying public works officers overtime to complete certain roads.

“Mr Chairman, we haven’t misappropriated any money. We sort to paying our workers overtime so that we can finish certain roads in time following public demand,” she said.

Mochiemo directed her to document all roads that had been done in financial year 2014/2015 and those of 2015/2016 and the amount that the department has used for further verification and submit it for audit by Wednesday 23.
