Uasin Gishu residents have been urged to turn up for the public sensitisation forum on the police vetting exercise to give their views concerning the officers to be vetted.

Speaking at the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner's office on Tuesday, the chairman of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC), Johnstone Kavuludi said that the public plays a vital role in giving information about the officers. 

"The public plays a major role during the vetting process and their views are taken into consideration since they are the ones who interact with the police on a daily basis," he said.

The NPSC chair says members of the publics knows the officers on the ground and can provide first-hand information on their involvement in corruption, and harassment. 

"The exercise of sensitising the police and members of the public on the importance of vetting has started today at the Noble Hotel and its open to the public to come and give their views on the officers who will undergo vetting come January," he added.

He said since they will be interviewing traffic officers, OCSs and their deputies people who have invested in the matatu industry are highly invited.
