The three year old girl has been receiving treatment at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital where she was rushed by Good Samaritans after the accident.

Her parents Robert Matanda and Stella Ebei who were traveling from Nairobi after attending the Beyond Zero Campaign Half Marathon spearheaded by Kenya's  First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta, perished in the accident that involved a North Rift Matatu and a trailer.

They hail from Makutano village in Kapenguria.

Seven people died on the spot after the speeding trailer lost control and rammed into the matatu that was heading the opposite direction at a climbing lane near Ngata bridge along the busy Nakuru-Eldoret highway.

Angela’s aunt Lilian Lopeyok and her cousin Pamela Kamar told reporters that they received news of the girl through the media.

“Were it not for the media, we would not have traced Angela” Lilian said.

They embarked on a journey to Nakuru where they found the little angel undergoing treatment.

“It was through the mercy of the lord that the child was alive” said Pamela.
