Makongeni Police Station OCS Samuel Khisa has urged Makongeni residents to be responsible when out for merry-making during this festive season.

Citing a case where a lady was on Wednesday evening allegedly drugged in one of the local joints while taking drinks, Khisa said that merry-makers should be much careful and avoid interacting much with strangers.

The unidentified lady was rushed to Thika Level Five Hospital by Makongeni Police Station officers after she was found lying on a pavement unconscious in the shopping centre.

"At this time we always advise revellers to be careful of who they interact with in the drinking joints. If possible, don't even go to a bar alone especially if you are a lady. Make sure that you in a company of somebody known to you," said Khisa after the incident.

The OCS also advised revellers against leaving open drinks unattended or accepting open drinks from the counter or from strangers.

"Open drinks are the main avenues of getting drugged. Avoid them completely when you leave them unattended or given to you by anyone," Khisa said.

Khisa also warned bar operators in the area with a habit of drugging their customers or entertaining other revellers with such habits saying they will be dealt with.
