Residents of Nyando sub-county on Tuesday received free medical services through the Beyond Zero initiative.
The campaign took place at Nyamasao area and was led by Kisumu County first lady, Olivia Ranguma.
More than 400 residents received treatment for various medical conditions. Among the services offered include jigger removal, malaria testing and treatment, mother and child health, treatment of coughs, syphilis and skin diseases.
Speaking during the event, Mrs Ranguma encouraged pregnant mothers to deliver their children in hospitals.
''We have brought free medical services to the people of Nyamasao and we have managed to treat 400 people," she said.
The first lady said the initiatives main aim was to focus on women and children and also a way to encourage expectant mothers to visit clinics for frequent check-ups.
Many residents, especially children, got jiggers removed from their feet and got free pairs of shoes and slippers during the event. Mrs. Ranguma promised to see the fight against jiggers enhanced in the county. She also promised to make a follow-up visit after four months.

"She has done well. Today we have had a free clinic here in Nyando. We have never had a Beyond Zero clinic here in Nyando." said Rosemary.
