The Beyond Zero Mobile Clinic donated by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta in Nakuru County has treated over 250 patients in a span of three days in Kuresoi North Constituency.
The mobile clinic was part of a two-day outreach programme led by Governor Kinuthia Mbugua and his deputy Joseph Ruto in the constituency.
Some of the patients who were treated thanked the county government for taking the service closer to the people as many could not afford to travel to Rift Valley Referral Hospital to seek treatment.
Sixty four year-old James Kagui was among those who sought medical attention at the clinic on Thursday and said he was elated to have received free medical services and drugs
“I have been having some problems with my stomach and I could not raise transport to go to Nakuru but today I got treated for free and even got drugs. I thank our governor for that noble gesture,” he said.
Elizabeth Wairimu, a constituent also got treated in the mobile clinic on Friday, a day after the governor wrapped up the outreach programme.
In an earlier statement by the county boss, he assured residents of Kuresoi that his government would ensure that they access health services with ease.
He also said the clinic will benefit many elderly people who are constrained by finances to seek medication in bigger facilities.
Nyota ward MCA Njuguna Gichamu said the county government’s outreach programme was effective for service delivery, and thanked the governor for allowing the clinic attend to his constituents for another day.
