Uasin Gishu chairman of the Council of Imams and  Muslim Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) Abubakar Bini has echoed Pope Francis' call for an intensified fight against corruption and land grabbing in the country.

Speaking in his office on Saturday, Bini said that corruption and grabbing of public land have increased the cost of living and derailed the provision of quality services.

"I support the call by Pope Francis for Jubilee government to fight corruption and land grabbing which has been the order of the day," he said.

He said that President Uhuru Kenyatta should heed the Pope's message and fight the menace conclusively.

"Cases of land grabbing in the country have really increased to an extent that one can grab land meant for primary school kids. It is very shameful," said Bini.

He further urged Kenyans to help the government in the fight against corruption by refusing to take or give out bribes.

"Land grabbing should be condemned with the strongest words possible," he added.
