Kisii town and its surrounding estates were on Tuesday hit by a total blackout; the rainy season has largely affected the power supply in the area.
The blackout started on Sunday in Mwembe, Riverside, Nyanchwa and Jogoo estates but on Tuesday evening the situation became worse after the power supply was cut in these area and the whole town as well. This affected businesses in kisii as owners were forced to shut down.
The cause of the blackout was due to a major transformer that supplies Kisii town blew up because of the heavy rains and winds thus causing some of the feeder transformers to blow up too.
The situation is yet to be corrected as there is still no power in some parts of Kisii town and the estates though the Kenya Power technicians are doing rectifications.
"We are working hard to make sure the situation is back to normal," Eliud Maina, a KPLC worker confirmed.
