After students of Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Nakuru Campus demonstrated and vandalised property at the institution decrying alleged oppression by the management, things took a new twist Tuesday, with authorities at the institution accusing the students of resisting change and insubordination.
Speaking to the press for the first time since Sunday night when confusion took centre stage at the institution, college Principal Wilson Bii blamed a section of the students for inciting their counterparts to take part in the strike.
He confides to having some issues between the two parties but was quick to note that all pertinent issues earlier raised by the students were being addressed.
"Contrary to reports in a section of media outlets, all the raised issues were being handled in a professional manner but the students decided to spill them out," he said.
He noted that the students were resisting several in house changes initiated by the management to make their stay at the facility more enjoyable.
"Some of this things take time to be implemented, you don't just wake up today and have everything in place. Our students just lacked patience," he added.
The institution closed indefinitely awaiting an official communique from KMTC headquarters on when it will be reopened.
Nakuru Police Commander Mr Hassan Barua confirmed that nine students were arrested and are under investigations in connection with the chaos.
