The Kenya Film Classification Board is expected to issue new guidelines for film licensing in the country.

Chief executive Ezekiel Mutua posted via his Facebook page said the guidelines are aimed at streamlining the process of film licensing in the country to make it more efficient and effective.

Mutua in the said status dated January  5,  said the new guidelines are as a result of the recommendations of the Presidential Task Force on Parastatal Reforms which transferred the film licensing functions from the Department of Film Services to the board.

"The Kenya Film Classification Board will tomorrow, Wednesday 6th January 2015 issue new guidelines for film licensing in the country with a view to streamline the process and make it more efficient and effective. This follows the recommendations of the Presidential Task Force on Parastatal Reforms which transferred the film licensing functions from the Department of Film Services to the KFCB, making the Board the sole regulatory authority of the film sector in Kenya,’ said part of Mutua’s Facebook status.

The regulations are expected to be issued after the board met on Tuesday with content producers and the Director of Film Services Ernest Kirpono to agree on the modalities of the transition among other details.

According to Mutua, details of this transition will be known to the public via a press conference which will be held today.
