According to John Kirwa, an eyewitness, the bodaboda operator was trying to overtake a matatu but rammed into it after which he lost control.

"After hitting the matatu at the back, he rolled severally on the road and that's when a Toyota Vitz that was coming from behind, hit him on the head and he died on the spot," Kirwa said.

He alleges that the driver tried to escape but was found at Hawai Centre where angry bodaboda operators threatened to lynch him.

"The Vitz driver escaped death by a whisker after the police arrived and shot in the air to disperse the angry crowd," he said.

John Wanyama, a bodaboda operator who operates in the area urged Uasin Gishu County government to erect speed bumps at the Veterinary Research Centre area saying it was a black spot.

"I urge Governor Jackson Mandago to put a bump at the Veterinary Research Centre and allow us to use one side of the footpaths, since the main road is congested," he said.

The deceased operator operates at Action Stage along Iten road.

His body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting identification by his relatives.
