Bonchari MP, Zebedayo Opore, has cautioned bodaboda operators in Kisii County against being used by selfish politicians who are out to settle political scores in public gatherings.

Speaking at his Suneka home on Sunday, Opore said the operators, who are mostly youths, were being paid by politicians to partake in chaos during public gatherings whereby they target opponents of the politicians.

His warning comes a few days after bodaboda operators suspected to have been hired by his competitors almost caused chaos during his mothers' burial of  on Friday.

''I am very disappointed that some of you are still engaging in primitive politics of intimidating supporters of rival camps. We must behave properly with decorum in public gatherings regardless of our political persuasions. We must rise up and shun politicians who are out to use you for their own selfish gains,'' he said.

Opore urged the operators to form saccos and save the little they earn and if they succeed in this, he promised to help them make progress economically.

''Time has come for you to desist from engaging in politics of hatred. You have to come together and form saccos which we can help easily as leaders because we want you to progress economically and that is the way to go,'' he said.

He also challenged the youths to come together and fight crime which are reportedly on the rise in the region.
