Bodaboda operators in Thika East sub county have been cautioned over reckless driving on the busy Garissa Road as they were endangering their lives.
Thika traffic police base commander William Uhuru during a crackdown of rogue motorists on the road on Tuesday decried the increasing cases of road accidents caused by operators.
He said the operators knew very well that careless driving causes accidents and claims lives, but ignored the fact.
He called on them to be cautious since more lives were being lost in the area.
Uhuru advised untrained operators to join the group that is being trained by Thika CDF office.
He said those operating without licenses will be arrested.
He said that the training was a way of reducing accidents as they will learn how to observe traffic rules.
The officer urged the operators to join Saccos that would enable them to work in unity to enhance security in the region, saying that incidences of motorbike theft and attacks at night will only end if they join hands and fight for their safety.
Over 400 bodaboda operators have already been trained and graduated through Thika CDF office.
