Members of Commerce chairman Julius Ndawa said the ban is unnecessary as many people in Masinga need their services because they travel at night.

"We will work hand in hand with the police to ensure bodaboda operators report any members associated with crime," said Ndawa on Friday.

H e was speaking during a meeting convened by bodaboda members in Masinga to discuss ways of ending insecurity in the sub county.

The meeting attended by Yatta Assistant County Commissioner Spikah Makori was stormy as the bodaboda members took on police to explain why the ban was slapped without consulting them.

The ban was slapped last week following reports that motorcycle riders were aiding criminals conduct robberies in the sub county.

Ndawa said there were many sub county residents who travel to various destinations at night who need their services.

He said it would be difficult for such people to move if their operations are banned.
