The decomposing body of a four-year-old child who was reportedly missing two days ago was found on Monday morning in a well at Mwamogesa ltongo village in Kitutu Central ward.

The baby class pupil at Kiong'ong'i primary school disappeared on Saturday evening only for his body to be found floating in a neighbour's well.

According to his mother, Velma Nyasuguta: "My son, Derrick Nyang'wara went missing on Saturday evening at around 7 PM. I moved around from one home to another in search of my son in vain. We have not eaten nor slept from that day. My son was found lifeless in a well today morning."

Children, who were with the late on Saturday evening said the deceased fell in the well while he was fetching water.

The owner of the well, Florence Kwamboka, said the deceased's two sisters notified her on Monday that they had seen a red trouser resembling of their missing brother when they were fetching water from the well. It was around 11 am.

The police took the body to a Kisii morgue as they launch investigations into how the deceased died.

Area ward representative aspirant Walter Nyakundi has called on the police to fasten investigations to establish the exact cause of the death of the minor.

"We ask the police to conduct swift investigations to establish the cause of the child's death. We want to know the truth of the matter whether indeed the child drowned in the well while fetching water or he was killed elsewhere and his body thrown in the well," said Mr. Nyakundi.

He added: "We hope autopsy will be done too to reveal the exact cause of the child's death."
