Nyumba Kumi spear headers in Bomwagi location in Nyamira south Sub county have a reason to smile, after the area assistant chief Dan Okiomeri awarded them for helping him run the location with ease.
According to the chief, area residents that he awarded are those that have been in the forefront in ensuring that the area is secure by initiating the Nyumba Kumi programme that is so far a success to him and the community.
“The only way to get the intelligence on the ground is through coordinating with the residents and spearheading Nyumba kumi initiative that is really bearing fruits,” he added
He added that his main target is to reduce crime by 75 per cent because studies show that where community policing has been set and operating well, it has managed to reduce crime rate, and that is their ultimate objective.
The six members who were awarded by the area administrator said they are working with the government to ensure that the security level of the community is achieved.
They were awarded a check of Sh50,000 each.
