Residents of Bonyamatuta ward in Nyamira south sub-county held a peaceful demonstration, protesting alleged laxity of their MCA in the development of the area, which they termed as poor.
About 400 residents criticised Mr Robinson Mocheche, saying his development record of his area was poor compared to other MCAs in the county assembly.
They cited poor roads, health facilities and bursary allocations and other infrastructure as some of the areas that have failed to address as an elected leader.
One of the residents, who sought anonymity, said finding the MCA has been a problem and they would like him to report to work immediately.
“We don’t need to vote some people who are not seen by us and yet he calls himself our leader who care for us” he added
One demonstrator, Mr Luke Mogaka, said they would ensure they petition for the removal of the representative if he does not immediately perform his duty according to their expectations.
He accused their MCA of negligence and urged the county government to intervene and salvage the matter.
In response, Mr Mocheche termed the demonstration as politically motivated by his opponents.
He further added that his development record was clear giving an example of the bursary which he said he had allocated the needy.
“I have used all my resources in developing the area and there was need for the residents to understand that,” he added.
