Primary schools from Borabu Constituency are set to receive printers and photocopiers to subsidise the cost of setting continuous assessment tests, a Borabu politician has said.
Speaking at Riosando Primary School on Monday, Nyandoro Kambi said he had set aside Sh5 million through his Nyandoro Kambi Foundation to purchase the machines and deploy them in zonal centers.
He said the machines will be in use from January and urged teachers to seize the opportunity and work towards improving the academic standards in the region.
“I have come up with the idea of buying printers, photocopiers and computers for our schools after consulting area teachers. It is true that our institutions incur a lot of costs when preparing our children in terms of examinations. I hope the project will significantly help reduce the costs,” he said.
He said the Foundation will be paying technicians who will be mandated to operate the machines and urged parents to work closely with their respective schools to improve the performance.
“The operators will be catered for by our foundation and this is a wake up call for teachers to seize the opportunity and prepare our children adequately. Parents also have a role to play by working closely with teachers to uplift our education standards,” he added.
The move will see 15 education zones benefiting with the main headquarters expected to be set at Nyansiongo where teachers will be setting district exams.
