Bosiango residents in Nyamira south Sub County are now calling for the county government of Nyamira to improve the available Bosiango Sub county hospital.
According to the residents, the situation at the hospital has compromised health services in the region, forcing majority of the residents to seek health care in private clinics and hospitals where they are charged exorbitantly.
Eric Kerosi, an area resident said majority of those who seek treatment at the facility are from poor backgrounds and cannot afford to visit private facilities.
“If you go to the hospital you are told there is no enough medicine so you are told to go and buy from a private chemist, which is quite expensive,” he added
Irene Mokeira, another resident lamented that the health centre, which is the only public health facility in the densely populated area, is poorly equipped and does not have enough qualified personnel.
“For me all I want to see is the county government to ensure that the health facility is well equipped and deploy more health personnel,” she added.
When contacted, one of the health directors in Nyamira, who seeked anonymity accused Nyamira County government of ignoring community dispensaries which were established by CDF long before the promulgation of the new constitution in 2010.
