Bright but needy class eight candidates who will score over 350 marks a in Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) have been urged to apply for sponsorship immediately they receive their results.
Kibera Constituency parliamentary liaison officer Mr Vincent Ayako said the sponsorship programme is being supported by Oasis Africa Australian organisation.
Speaking on Friday at the CDF office, Ayako said the candidates should now work hard to attain the marks since he believes the exams will not be hard.
“Class eight candidates should tackle the exam with courage and be focused that they will pass. We are here to help them achieve their goals. This is the reason why Oasis Africa has decided to partner with us by sponsoring these children’s education,” said Ayako.
He has appealed to teachers not to allow the candidates to be blackmailed by any person saying they have leakage for the exams.
“Teachers should be alert not to allow these candidates to be blackmailed that there is leakage. Let teachers support the candidates and help them with final touches in revising,” he added.
He also said that the sponsorship programme will cater for both female and male pupils without favouring any gender.
