Business found operating without health licenses in Kamwangi town have been closed down.

Area health and environment officer Beatrice Mueni said the businesses will not open until operators comply with set laws.

Among those closed down is two butcheries and a hotel when health officers visited the area for inspection.

"Health standards should be adhered to by all food-related business operators. We cannot compromise the health of our people in the name of making cash," Mueni said.

Two people were arrested during the raid in connection with running food ventures without necessary certificates.

The health officer gave warning  to all business operators in Gatundu North who have failed to adhere to the set rules and regulations in running a business.

"I have made a circular to local administrators informing them to remind business operators apply for the health licenses by 15th January 2015,"  she added.
