A businessman in Kiambu was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly hiring his two licensed guns to criminals.
Kiambu OCPD Mr Stephen Ng'etich said that the man identified as Nzioki was arrested on Wednesday morning in his house in Thindigua.
He said that this is after police arrested two gangsters on Tuesday night in Kiambu town and recovered two pistols. They confessed they always got the guns from the businessman for only Sh2,000 per night.
Ng'etich said that the man is said to have been hiring his licensed guns to criminals for about two years now hence encouraging crime.
He said that the man is in police custody as investigations continue on the issue. He said police also recovered two more licensed guns from the suspect’s house. Ngetich said police investigations show the suspect has been hiring his licensed guns to earn money from criminals.
He said serious action will be taken against such people when arrested.
"I want to warn those with licensed guns against hiring them to criminals as it will land them into serious trouble," said Ng'etich.
He said this incident had raised alarm to the police to be very watchful on those possessing licensed guns.
