Residents of Kisumu County have been challenged to help women by boosting their entrepreneurial skills so as to become financially independent.
Nyalenda Maendeleo ya Wanawake chairlady Fildey Nyabira on Tuesday challenged women to be aggressive by starting businesses and also forming groups that would see them improve their socio-economic well-being.
Nyabira who spoke at Nyalenda estate urged women to embrace the business and the training opportunities that come their way if they want to become self reliant.
She said her aim is to see that women are empowered by equipping them with skills that would make them responsible people in society.
“We encourage the locals to give women proper ground especially their husbands by giving them the support they need. The skills they acquire will help them in their businesses thus improve their economic statuses," noted Nyabira.
Beatrice Ogilo who runs a grocery and grains business urged women who have no jobs to embrace entrepreneurship saying it has transformed her life.
