Nyamira women Representative now wants the government to do a fresh audit on beneficiaries of old aged and orphans kitty-powered by the Kenyan government amidst claims that the money was being diverted to imaginary individuals.

Mrs Alice Chae who was addressing several orphans at Risa Primary on Thursday said many of the orphans and aging people were not beneficiaries of the kitty and raised an alarm over possible impersonation by those responsible.

She challenged the government to do a fresh audit through the Kenya Bureau of Statistics to come up with correct names of individuals.

“The old aged kitty and orphans kitty are not used for intended purposes. I want the government to audit the list of beneficiaries because there is so much than we can imagine going on. Genuine beneficiaries across Nyamira county are not in the scheme and we demand to know the answers because we live with these old people and orphans and we know them well,” she said.

She said the chiefs and assistants across Nyamira should be investigated and those found culpable of the fraud sacked and taken to court.

“The scheme is welcome but those taking the names and I believe its members of provincial administration are not doing their work properly. They should be investigated and punished for fraud because I wonder who beneficiaries are because many of those we know are still living in deplorable conditions,” she added.

She said that she is ready to give the government information to substantiate her claims if it’s deemed necessary.
