Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has put on notice street beggars in Eldoret town saying that they risk arrest.

Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Chemno said that there has been an increased number of beggars in the town's CBD.

"Am really disappointed at the rate at which beggars are flocking in Eldoret in the name of being crippled," he said.

He said the number of disabled beggars have drastically increased saying they are distributed in every street in Eldoret town.

"I give a stern warning to such beggars that they either remove themselves from the Eldoret streets or we forcefully remove them," he said.

He said that county enforcement officers will be deployed to ensure that all beggars are arrested.

"I have also instructed my officers to arrest those individuals who drop the disabled beggars in the morning and pick them in the evening since they are the ones encouraging them," he added.
