Ndumberi Chief Sylvester Gaithuma has urged youth in the area to assist in sensitising locals about the Nyumba Kumi and Community policing security initiatives.
Speaking to youth at Ndumberi Town Centre on Tuesday, the chief appealed to youth to take the initiative and help local administrators in educating the residents.
The chief noted that majority of youth in the are literate, saying that they can be effective in persuading locals to embrace the Nyumba Kumi initiative.
Mr Gaithuma observed that various campaigns to educate residents on Nyumba Kumi are ongoing.
“Our young people should come forward and partner with us on security matters, especially Nyumba Kumi as we strive to eliminate crime in this area,” he said.
The chief noted that cases of crime had reduced in the past two months attributing the decline to massive security operations.
He said that police and local administrators are working closely to fight criminal elements.
The chief urged Ndumberi residents to continue cooperating with law enforcers as they fight crime.
At the same time the chief warned people allegedly re-introducing illicit brew in the area saying that they will be dealt with according to the law.
He said that they will conduct operations in areas they suspect are re-introducing illicit brew.
