A 26-year-old man was on Thursday evening rescued by administrators from an angry mob baying for his blood after allegedly conning people.
According to Josphat Musyoki an eyewitness, the culprit was in the company of his friend when they arrived to sell imported fake livestock salt to a shop owner.
"The man was recognized by a woman whom he conned Sh200,000 last month and had come back for his dirty business.
The angry people descended on him and bit him thoroughly but his friend drove their vehicle away," said Musyoki.
The man was luckily rescued by the Kambi ya Ndeke area chief Jane Kisangai and her assistant Francis Mutua from the mob.
It was a dead end for the two after his counterpart who had escaped with their vehicle found a road block at the Yatta Canal.
He, however, managed to leave the car and disappeared into the thickest.
Kithimani OCS James Wairagu has confirmed the incident stating the culprit was taken to Matuu level 4 hospital and later locked in Kithimani police station.
"The accused had gotten injuries so we rushed him to the hospital but he us currently in Kithimani police station," stated Wairagu.
The accused will be arraigned in Kithimani court on Friday.
