Chiefs and their assistants in Bogichora ward have been blamed over the increase in the brewing and consumption of illicit liquor, drugs and substance abuse in the area.
Speaking during a church fundraiser at Ramba SDA area MCA Beuttah Omanga pointed out that the problem of alcoholism and drug abuse had reached alarming rate in the area.
He singled out police officers and administrators as part of the problem in the eradication of these vices, saying that some own joint businesses with the brewers while others take bribes to protect the brewers.
He observed that although brewing has reduced due to the crackdown ordered in February last year following a presidential directive, local youth aged below 18 years of age fall for the cheap and readily available drugs and brews.
"Some police officers and chiefs own brewing dens, others take bribes while majority are costumers and frequent such areas," said Omanga.
