Chiefs and their assistants have been called to be communicating as well as articulating the national government policies to the people under their respective jurisdictions through regular barazas.
Thika West DCC Jeremiah Gicheru has said that it is the responsibility of the chiefs and their assistants to ensure that the public is well informed on government policies and undertakings saying that administrators who fail this test have no business being in office.
"Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs are the national government representatives and mouthpiece entrusted with sensitising the locals on the national government policies through monthly barazas. They are also supposed to communicate the problems of their subjects to the national government during our regular briefings," Gicheru said on Monday in his Thika office.
Gicheru said that chiefs should have solid networks through which they gather information pertaining their subjects to ensure that smooth running of their jurisdictions.
"A Chief should know and be able to contain vices happening in their locations. Of late we have started to hear that illicit brews are resurging and the Chiefs are supposed to ensure that this doesn't happen. If they do their work down there, our work here becomes easier going up," he added.
He, however, challenged the public to work with their local administrators to make their areas governable, secure and more so be able to receive growth and development from the national government.
