County commissioner Josephine Onunga on Sunday said the motorbikes were donated to improve service delivery among residents and cautioned the chiefs against using them for other purposes other than those authorised by the government.

She also said her office would not hesitate to take an action against chiefs who may be found culpable of misusing the motorbikes by using them in functions which are not governmental.

“The government trusts the chiefs and that is why we had to issue the motorbikes for effective service delivery. As were not going to condone those who may be tempted to use them in functions which are not governmental. I will not hesitate to take a stern action against them,” she said.

Mrs Onunga also urged then to use the motorbikes to patrol their area of jurisdiction and also reach all villages for government duties without confining meetings to specific regions that might inconvenience other residents.

“I want to see more patrols other than just staying in the office. They must ensure that their area of jurisdiction is safe. I also want then to reach all villages and hold meetings rather than confining members of many villages in a specific region,” she said while addressing residents of Nyamaiya.

The issuance of motorbikes is done on a sub-county basis and the exercise is set to commence in Borabu sub-county having been completed in Nyamira South.
