Christians have been urged to join development groups which can help vulnerable people in society and themselves in their dairy activities.

Addressing group members of one christian-based Group ‘Toleo self help group’ on Wednesday at Matutu area in Gesima ward, Rodgers Okioga, the chairman to the group advised members to invest in the group so that they can grow economically.

According to him, they started the group as one way of empowering themselves, unlike other groups which are formed and finally collapse without benefiting group members.

“I advise christians to join this group so that we can develop ourselves unlike other groups,” said Okioga

He added that their vision is to make sure that the christian groups help residents who have been discouraged in joining groups due to poor management.

“We started this group as christians so that we can help ourselves in terms of development and help some residents join the society who have been discouraged,” added Okioga.

The group comprises of more than 30 christians who have started some projects including farming and poultry.

“At the end of this year we would like to have more projects which will benefit us,” added Okioga.
