A civil society group has written to foreign donors asking them to cut their funding towards projects in Nakuru County due to what they termed as rampant corruption.
The Nakuru Peoples Accountability Forum (NPAF) said that it has been pushed to take the action as a means of dealing with the alleged corruption in the Nakuru County government.
Speaking at Nakuru town on Monday, NPAF chairman Masese Kemunche said that failure by Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to act on corruption is a proof that he does not care at all.
“We as the people of Nakuru gave the governor an opportunity to defend his government before the people but he chose to ignore us and therefore we are asking all foreign donors to cut short their funding to Nakuru County and all projects related to the same,” said Kemunche.
“NPAF has already written the World Bank, partners in the European Union, Germany banks as well as Danida asking them stop funding projects in the county until the corruption and accountability issues are addressed,” he added.
He called on all good will Nakuru residents to support the move and ensure that governor Mbugua and his government is forced to account for every lost cent from the county coffers.
