nyattChurch and community leaders have been asked to embrace mentorship programme for young people in a bid to fight social challenges facing them.

Speaking Nyamira county early on Wednesday during the hand-over the 35th fully kitted Beyond Zero mobile clinic to Governor John Nyagarama on behalf of the people of Nyamira County, First lady Margaret Kenyatta said that young people are faced with numerous challenges hence the need to be enrolled in regular mentorship programme.

She said that it was a social responsibility for leaders to embrace mentorship and empowerment programme to mould the lives of the young people to help them become better persons in the society and realise their dreams.

“This objective shall be realised if all stakeholders consisting of administration, clergy and the community come together to breathe life into the future of the youth,” she added.

She also noted that in the recent times, less and less young people are starting families due to economic challenges and the alcoholism menace.

She further stressed the need to encourage the youth to marry, be responsible and become active members of the community.
