Chae said for residents of Nyamira to elect leaders of their choice, they should register as voters in large numbers and vote in leaders who will serve them.

"I urge to register to vote in these elections so that you can participate and have a say in how our county and country at large is managed," she said.

Speaking on Sunday at a church function in Mochenwa, Rigoma ward, she noted that registering as voters was the only way the residents would make informed decision when electing leaders in the forthcoming general elections.

"When you think about the kind of things your vote can influence in everyday life, it is so important to register as a voter. It is vital that people vote and have their say on the issues that matter to them," she observed.

The legislator further noted that the voter registration would facilitate free and fair exercise by residents electing leaders who have good development records than those with vested interests.

The mass voter registration exercise kicked off on Monday and it is set to run up to March 15, 2016.
