Residents of Gatundu North sub county have been urged to join hands with all the administrative units in the area to promote peace.
The collaboration will go a long way to achieve community policing and Nyumba Kumi initiative in the area.
Speaking from his office in Kamwangi on Friday, the sub county Commissioner Daniel Nyamiti said Nyumba Kumi initiative has assisted in maintenance of law and order.
"The representatives who attend church services on weekends create awareness by embracing community policing and the Nyumba Kumi initiative," he said.
"After a period of three months we meet to assess their success, challenges and failures during the quarterly report and this has helped Gatundu North administrative units to strategise on better ways of keeping their area safe and peaceful," he observed.
Nyamiti pointed out that through the initiative, area leaders have been visiting schools where school children are taught on ways of identifying criminals and terrorists and how they could respond in such a situation.
"We have already trained various residents on how to vet even watchmen before they secure employment to prevent crime," he said.
The commandant said that this is achieved by ensuring that employers get job seekers original identification documents while copies are kept for any eventuality.
The police boss revealed that peaceful co-existence of Gatundu North people has earned the area community a good reputation.
The area was in the recent past hit by armed robbers who invade businesses especially M-Pesa business.
Crime rate has however reduced in the last two months.
