Residents of Manga in Borabu sub county have thrown their support to County Commissioner Josephine Onunga following a crackdown spearheaded by her that led to arrest of five top cattle rustling suspects.

Last week, six residents reported to have lost their cattle in separate incidents, attracting an attention from the county commissioner who on Wednesday led a crackdown that saw five people apprehended in connection with cattle theft.

Speaking to this writer, former Manga councilor Charles Omwana led other area residents on Thursday to hail the county commissioner's efforts to combat emerging cases of cattle rustling.

“She (Onunga) was here with us on Wednesday as we recovered three of the ten cows. They arrested five suspects who will be arraigned in court and perhaps give crucial information. She has shown commitment towards fighting serious vices in our society,” he said.

They however urged the county commissioner to consider deploying more police officers in the region to thwart any plan by rustlers to execute their plans.

“Because these people operate as a network, we urge the commissioner to deploy more police officers to reinforce the four who are serving at the border. Otherwise she has done an exemplary work and we hope she will help our people abandon the primitive habit of stealing from among ourselves,” he added.
