Kiambu deputy commissioner Nobert Komora has warned bar outlets in the county against selling alcohol to teenagers.
Addressing journalists at his Kiambu office on Sunday, Komora said bar outlets selling alcohol to teenagers will be immediately shut down.
He also warned that bar owners and operators who allow access to persons under- eighteen years to their premises will be arrested.
“We have noted and also received information that some bar outlets are allowing access and selling alcoholic drinks top teenagers,” he said.
Komora said that such rogue bar outlets will not be tolerated adding that a crackdown to arrest the culprits will be mounted soon.
The deputy county commissioner asked the bar operators to demand Identification Cards (IDs) before selling alcohol to people they suspect are under-age.
The commissioner said that with closure of schools some teenagers could be tempted to engage in alcoholism.
The Kiambu deputy county commissioner at the same time said that the crackdown on illicit brews in the county will continue.
He said that local administrators and chiefs in the county have been directed to deal with illicit brewers and sellers in their respective localities.
