A Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) pastor has decried increased cases of community policing members in Kisii overstepping their mandate by interfering with residents' domestic affairs.

Pastor Hezborn Michira said some community policing members overstep their mandate and meddle in family disputes contrary to the provisions of the law.

Speaking at Kisii Culture Hall on Monday during a community policing sensitisation forum, Michira said the community policing members should be trained and educated on their mandate to avert situations where they invade people's privacy.

"Some community policing members are overstepping their mandate and by invading the privacy of the marriage institution. They interfere with resolution of marital conflicts yet it is not their role to do so," said Michira

Michira said having community policing members resolving marital issues was a threat to the marriage institution.

He said some questionable characters in the committees take advantage of their positions to intimidate married women who do not give in to their sexual advances before resolving their marital conflicts.
