Gatundu North Member of Parliament Francis Kigo Njenga on Friday 30th October 2015 launched a comprehensive Care Unit at Igegania Sub County Hospital.
Speaking during the official launch of the facility this afternoon, Kigo said that the HIV prevalence in the county was still of great concern.
"We need to work in unity with all stakeholders to ensure that Gatundu North does not become a centre of diseases," he said.
The Member of Parliament asked the health department to ensure that Accelerated Care and Treatment targets are met.
Kigo further expressed the national governments commitment in preventing mother to child HIV transmission lauding the program run by the first lady Margret Kenyatta.
"The national government has been very devoted in reducing mortality rates by ensuring that children that are born by HIV infected mothers are saved. Margret Kenyatta has been in the forefront of making the rate reduce by zero and we commend her so much for her devotion," he added.
Kigo at the same time said that Gatundu North CDF has allocated 3.75 million shillings for completion of a maternity unit at Mataara dispensary which is currently being constructed by Mike and John constructors.
