Kiambu County Chief Officer for Public Service and Administration Dominic Gicheru has put on notice impostors posing as county alcoholic enforcement officers and allegedly coning and harassing bar operators.

Speaking to the press after holding a meeting with other county officials on Alcoholic Drinks enforcement on Saturday, Gicheru said that some people were defrauding bar operators.

He stated several  bar operators in Thika, Ruiru and Juja have complained of people demanding money from them.

“There are complaints from bar operators in Thika, Juja and Ruiru that they are being forced to give out money to people posing as county officials,” he said.

Gicheru said that police have launched investigations into the matter warning that culprits will be dealt with accordingly.

He asked operators to be careful and demand information from people posing as county alcoholic enforcement officers.

Gicheru noted that the alleged impostors demand between Sh20,000 and Sh30,000 from operators failure to which they threaten to close down the bars.

He warned that the government will not tolerate impostors urging residents and operators to report such cases.

At the same time the Chief  Administration Officer said that the county will continue to enforce laws governing liquor operations strictly.

He warned rogue operators saying that they will not be tolerated.

Gicheru also put on notice people allegedly re-introducing illicit brews in the county.
