Food is said to be the fuel for the body. Many people, especially in Nairobi, love junk food which they are not aware can lead them to an early grave.
Taking a lot of junk can lead to diabetes because junk affects your body’s ability to use insulin properly, therefore, leads to a spike in sugar levels. It causes fatigue and weakness. Junk food lack nutrients like proteins and vitamins. They fill you up but do not provide you with instant energy. This results to your body becoming weak after a few minutes. Continuous eating of junk can lead to you suffering chronic fatigue. It leads to depression among teenagers. Research has shown that junk food increases the depression among youths by 58%
According to Dr. Enes Wambuto, junk food contains bad fats also called trans fats which fight healthy fats in the brain therefore interfering with its functioning. This, therefore, slows down the ability to learn new skills.
Junk is a risk to the heart. It can lead to heart diseases because it has saturated fats that increase cholesterol levels in the blood. This causes heart diseases. It also damages the lining of blood vessels, therefore, letting cholesterol stick on the walls of the arteries blocking blood flow to the heart. The more fats you take in, the more you grow obese which also puts you at risk of suffering a heart attack.
They also increase chances of cancer. Cancer of the digestive system is witnessed when there is too much intake of junk because junk lacks fibre.
