Residents who live on West Mugirango-Kitutu Masaba border have agreed on a mode to be used in renovating a road that cuts across the two constituencies.
Esani-Mosobeti road has been a center of controversy with the leadership of the two constituencies facing persistent pressure to improve its status.
On Sunday, Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire confirmed having reached a deal with his West Mugirango counterpart Dr James Gesami as the construction of the road kicked off with delight from area residents.
“My leadership had initiated the project from Esani a while ago but it stalled because it passes through West Mugirango. As leaders, we had to sit down and assess the situation before going to public to inform our people about what we agreed. It’s a major road and we had top share cost,” Bosire said.
He said Kitutu Masaba will give Sh2.5 million to the project while West Mugirango leadership to give Sh2 million in return to ensure the project is completed in time for easy transportation of goods and farm produce.
“As Kitutu Masaba, we are talking of 12KM and our friends had to pay for 8KM. We will pay Sh2.5 million and Sh2 million respectively so that this road is completed in time given its importance to the society in terms of helping us transport farm produces to markets,” he said.
Bosire also said the two constituencies will be required to incur their own costs in maintenance of the road whenever a repair is needed.
